Rams Must Honor St. Louis PSLs

The Los Angeles Rams must honor some personal seat license agreements that were purchased by fans when the NFL team was still in St. Louis, a federal judge ruled Sept. 21.

The Los Angeles Rams have their first home game at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, starting with a performance by Red Hot Chili Peppers Sept. 18. The new era had a couple of glitches – some drunken fights and concession stands in need of water bottles, according to Yahoo News.

The team had argued those PSLs were terminated when it moved back to L.A. U.S. District Judge Stephen Limbaugh also ruled the Rams must refund deposits for other people who bought PSLs in St. Louis. About 46,000 had PSLs, give the holder the right to purchase season tickets for the St. Louis Rams, some at a cost of up to $1,000.

PSL holders argued that not only were the licenses still valid after the team pulled up stakes and moved West, but they also had the right to purchase season tickets for games in L.A. Though St. Louis-area fans are unlikely to travel halfway across the country to attend football games, resale of PSLs or season tickets could be lucrative once the Rams’ new stadium in Inglewood, Calif., opens in 2019.

The ruling, however, does not include tickets or PSLs sold by the Rams’ ticketing agent, FANS Inc. The FANS contract stated that it is terminated because of relocation. Judge Limbaugh did rule that PSL holders have rights to refunds, but not to purchase season tickets or PSLs in Los Angeles. It wasn’t immediately clear if the Rams would appeal.
