Eventim Case Causes Ripples

After a court ruled Eventim’s print-at-home fees and processing charges on top of shipping fees illegitimate, other ticketing companies are reviewing their approach.

Panelists at a ticketing discussion at this year’s Reeperbahn festival included Klaus Zemke, the managing director for Ticketmaster in Germany. While he wasn’t able to confirm then and there that Ticketmaster would scrap its print-at-home fee – after all it is often the promoters’ decision to charge such fees – he said that a lot pointed toward such a scenario.

The court verdict isn’t legally binding yet, and Eventim has already announced it will appeal. The NRW consumer agency advises that customers keep their receipts when purchasing tickets that include a print-at-home fee. Should the highest court uphold the verdict, those would come in handy.
