Phish Announces New Year’s Eve Plans

Where will you be when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve? For Phish fans, the Big Apple is once again the place. The jam band just announced details for its annual NYE residency, with tickets going on sale soon.

Phish will take over Madison Square Garden Dec. 28-31. Just like 2015 and 2013, all floor tickets will be general admission. (Phish spent 2014 in Miami.)

An online ticket request period is going on now through Oct. 10 at 12 p.m. EDT. The general onsale begins Oct. 14 at 12 p.m. EDT. Any remaining tickets will be available at the box office Oct. 15.

Travel packages, including lodging and tickets, go on sale Oct. 13 at 12 p.m. EDT. Proceeds will be donated to the WaterWheel Foundation, which Phish created to oversee the band’s various charitable activities.

Phish’s brand new album, Big Boat, is due out Oct. 7 via the band’s own JEMP Records. The LP was produced by Bob Ezrin, who also worked on 2013’s Fuego. Physical pre-orders via Phish Dry Goods include a free oversized print of the album cover. Whether you’re getting a CD or digital pre-order, you’ll receive an instant download of the lead track “Breath and Burning” and the tune “Blaze On.”

“‘Breath and Burning’ is a breezy rocker punctuated by some classic soul horn lines and a joyful key-change in the chorus that hints at future jams,” NPR’s Mike Katzif says. “And while it highlights Phish’s trademark songcraft and knotty wordplay, Anastasio and the band are revealing more of themselves in the lyrics – a challenge to the band from Ezrin himself.”

Big Boat is included on Rolling Stones “Fall Music Preview 2016: 35 Must-Hear Albums.”
