Midge Ure in 2017

Midge Ure plans to keep on touring in early 2017.  Booked through mid-December with shows on both sides of the Atlantic, the Ultravox frontman has added January gigs in the U.S., plays the United Kingdom and Ireland in February and heads to Australia in May.

Ure, who co-wrote “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” with Bob Geldof, and helped organize Band Aid, Live Aid and Live 8 with the Boomtown Rats singer, has been keeping busy.  His 2016 “Fragile Troubadour Tour” featured the musician traveling as a solo act.  Ure filmed the experience for a documentary released last year.

“After I was asked to do a masterclass at Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute Of Performing Arts, I realised that talking about multi-album record deals and world tours would be something most of the students would never experience so I set about doing the six week tour completely alone,” Ure said.  “No crew.  No tour manager.  No musicians.  I wanted to show the reality of what they might face, if they pursue a career in the current music industry.”

What can fans expect from Ure’s current road trip?  Word is he’ll be performing solo material, including songs from his Fragile album mixed with selections from his years with Ultravox and Visage.
