Suzi Quatro Leathers Australia

Get ready Australia, because rock ‘n’ roll’s trailblazer Suzi Quatro is donning her classic leather jumpsuit for a 2017 tour Down Under. At the shows she will perform her old hits and some new stuff with the trio QSP.

The dates start in Tweed Heads Feb. 3-4 and continue for a month, wrapping up in Darwin March 4. Along the way she plays the  in Perth Feb. 11,  Feb. 14, and Canberra Theatre Feb. 23. The artist said this will be her 32nd time in Australia in a press release.

In QSP Quatro wil be playing her bass and singing vocals with Andy Scott of The Sweet on the guitar and vocals and Don Powell from  holding down the drums. The group has a new album, titled QSP, coming out in January. She will play the hits with an 8-piece band backing her.

Quatro rose to prominence in the ’70s as the female leader of an otherwise all-male band and had a string of hits. Before that she had performed with her sisters in The Pleasure Seekers.

Some may remember her as Leather Tuscadero, the girlfriend of Fonzie on the TV show “Happy Days.” Below is one of her appearances, for the nostalgia:

Quatro said in a 2012 interview with the Metro Times that she identifies as a pioneer woman in rock ‘n’ roll.

“Before I did what I did, we didn’t have a place in rock ‘n’ roll. Not really,” she said. “You had your Grace Slicks and all that, but that’s not what I did. I was the first to be taken seriously as a female rock ‘n’ roll musician and singer. That hadn’t been done before. I played the boys at their own game. For everybody that came afterward, it was a little bit easier, which is good. I’m proud of that. If I have a legacy, that’s what it is.”
