STS9 Announces New Year’s Plans

The New Year’s celebration run takes place Dec. 29-31 at the Fillmore Auditorium.

The livetronica group will be showing off tunes from The Universe Inside, its first full-length studio album in nearly seven years and the first to feature bassist Alana Rocklin. The LP was released in September, debuting at No. 1 on the iTunes and Amazon Electronic Albums chart.

The album begins with “Supercluster,” which samples the radio transmission from the ninth NASA Space Shuttle mission. The mission just so happens to be referred to as STS-9. The lead single is “Get Loud,” which was created in collaboration with singer/songwriter Betty Idol and acclaimed production team the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. league.

Sound & Silence Magazine declares, “[The album] contains 13 tracks of celestial sounds and goose bump inducing riffs that will take you on a journey back to the band’s funk roots.”

STS9 has plenty of roadwork ahead of it before the big NYE party.
