Suncorp Stadium Renamed?

It became Suncorp Stadium in 1994, appearing regularly in Pollstar’s YTD ticket sales charts. It was rebranded Brisbane Stadium for the 2015 Asian Cup games.

A number of politicians will propose that the Lang Park name be enshrined in legislation to emphasise its importance as the “spiritual home of rugby league.” A debate on the name, first held Oct. 13, resumes Nov. 1.

The amendment would affect the way Suncorp Stadium is referred to in the legislation but not the stadium’s naming rights. In 2015, the government lifted the stadium’s four-concerts-a-year limit.

Two-night stints by Robbie Williams and U2 drew, respectively, 104,992 and 84,011. Coldplay claims the record for a single night there, with 52,497 in November 2012. Coldplay retunrs to play there in December, followed by Justin Bieber in March 2017. Other major draws Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Eminem.
