Waldbühne Berlin Celebrates Record Year

This summer season has been the most successful in the iconic  amphitheatre’s almost 55-year history of staging concerts. 

In total, more than 330,000 people visited concerts at Waldbühne Berlin this year, which ranks it fifth in Pollstar’s 3Q Ticket Sales Charts in the amphitheatre category.

Highlights included concerts by Paul McCartneyStingNeil YoungHerbert Grönemeyer, Iron MaidenBlack Sabbath and , which played three sold-out shows in a row in front of 65,000 people in total. Ten of the 18 shows staged at Waldbühne Berlin this year sold out.

“We are proud of having established the Waldbühne Berlin as the leading European open-air location for fans as well as for promoters and artists,” said Rainer Appel, senior vice president of Eventim, which run the venue since 2009. “And we were particularly pleased that in 2016 the Waldbühne once again is the only German venue in Pollstar’s worldwide ‘TOP 50 Amphitheatre Venues’ ranking and that we even made third place in this year’s half-year ranking.”
