Shakeup For Okeechobee

Steve Sybesma and Paul Peck have resigned from Soundslinger, the company founded alongside landowner Cliff Rosen in 2014 to produce the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival in Florida. Although the inaugural event this summer was considered a great success, Sybesma and Peck have moved on, citing “philosophical differences.” Their tenure at the company ended Oct. 18.

Sybesma and Peck arte expected to announce a new, yet-to-be-named company that will produce festivals and other live events along with consulting services and other initiatives.

“We set out ot produce a world-class event in our first year at Okeechobee, and feel we exceeded that goal,” Sybesma said in a statement.  “We are sorry to leave but wish the remaining organizers continued success with their future endeavors.”

Sybesma, known for building Sunshine Promotions into one of the U.S.’s largest concert promotion companies alongside Dave Lucas before heading off to China for further adventures, spoke at length with Pollstar about the Okeechobee festival before its launch and was clearly one of its key organizers.  He was unavailable at press time for further comment.
