Axed: Mariah Carey, Chris Isaak
Mariah Carey’s fans in South America are understandably heartbroken today after the songstress announced she was nixing her tour of the continent.
Carey planned to launch the journey in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Oct. 28. However, that show, along with gigs scheduled for Santiago, Chile (Oct. 30), Sao Paulo, Brazil (Nov. 1), Curitiba, Brazil (Nov. 4), and Porto Alegre. Brazil (Nov. 5), are canceled. Concerts planned for Mexico City Nov. 8, and Monterrey, Mexico, Nov. 9 will take place as planned.
Carey blamed the cancelations on the promoters behind the shows.
“Devastated my shows in Chile, Argentina & Brazil had to be cancelled,” Carey said via Twitter. “My fans deserve better than how some of these promoters treated them.”
She added, “I love my lambs in #SouthAmerica and will do everything I can to come in 2017 the proper way. Thank you for understanding. LYM, Te Amo <3 MC“
So far, Carey hasn’t actually described whatever the promoters did to earn her show-stopping wrath. Stay tuned.
A recent case of pneumonia is the dastardly villain in today’s story about Chris Isaak canceling his remaining 2016 dates.
That means concerts scheduled Nov. 7-Dec. 4 will not be happening. Affected cities include Boston, Washington, Salt Lake City, Pasadena and Beverly Hills.
“As my fans know, I’m a pretty healthy clean living rock and roller,” Isaak said in a statement. “It’s really unusual for me to cancel shows, but the good news is, I’m on the mend and look forward to getting back with my band as soon as I’m 100 percent. I want to thank my fans in advance for their good wishes.”
