Sony Invests In Booking Platform

Sony has secured a 15 percent share in the Berlin-based booking platform Gigmit for an undisclosed six-figure sum.

Gigmit is a booking platform startup helping promoters to find artists that match their event. At the same time, artists can look for venues in search of talent and find gig opportunities.

Gigmit claims it’s the largest live booking platform in Europe, according to the German startup website gründerszene.de. The Sony partnership is supposed to increase the company’s reach. Sony, in turn, strengthens its live entertainment business.

Gigmit CEO Marco Rüssel said the deal wasn’t exclusive and that he was open to partner with other companies as well.
