Richards, who was appointed a Knight Bachelor in 1995, first hit the charts in 1958 with “Move It,” often attributed to be Britain’s first rock song.   At that time Richard’s backing band was called The Drifters, but legal conflicts with the American group of the same name resulted in the switch to The Shadows moniker. Other hits included 1959’s “Living Doll as well as 1960’s “Please Don’t Tease,” 1960’s “I Love You” and 1963’s “Summer Holiday.”

Although his star never really waned in his British homeland, Richard experienced a resurgence in popularity in the U.S. during the late 70s/early ’80s with hits like “We Don’t Talk Anymore,”  “Devil Woman” and “Dreamin.’”

Richard’s new album, Just … Fabulous Rock ’n’ Roll, arrives in the U.S. Nov. 11 and features the singing star covering classic songs like “Sweet Little Sixteen,” “You Send Me” and “Roll Over Beethoven” as well as a “duet” with Elvis Presley on “Blue Suede Shoes.”
