Simple Plan Postpones Canada Run

Vocal problems cause Simple Plan to reschedule its November sweep through Eastern Canada.  So far, shows planned for London, Quebec City, Toronto and Montreal have been rescheduled for March while the band’s booking machine hustles to find new dates for Ottawa and Halifax.

Vocal problems afflicting lead singer / guitarist Pierre Bouvier are responsible for the sudden void in Simple Plan’s tour routing.  An announcement posted on the band’s website says Bouvier began feeling pain in his vocal cords while singing in the studio this week.  His voice doctor advised immediate vocal rest and ordered Bouvier to refrain from singing for the next four weeks.

That means the Canada “Taking One For The Team” adventure has moved to 2017.  Simple Plan returns to the road in December when it undertakes a South American tour. Here’s the revised schedule, with Ottawa and Halifax still in TBA mode.

March 11 – London, Ontario, London Music Hall
March 13 – Quebec City, Quebec, Centre Vidéotron
March 14 – Toronto, Ontario, Air Canada Centre
March 15 – Montreal, Quebec, Bell Centre

“We absolutely hate to not be able to play these shows and have to reschedule,” Simple Plan said in a statement posted on its website.  “Our Canadian shows are always extremely special to us and it really breaks our hearts to have to make this announcement.  We hope you will understand the situation and the fact that we didn’t come to this conclusion lightly or easily.  We know a lot of you had been looking forward to these shows for a very long time and that some people were traveling from all over the world to attend.  We want to sincerely apologize to everyone who is disappointed or if we caused you any inconvenience.”

Tickets purchased for the originally scheduled shows will be honored on the new dates.  Refunds are available at points of purchase until Dec. 1.  Go to SimplePlan.com for more details.
