The initiative stipulated that taxpayers would foot approximately half of that cost for the new stadium through a half-cent sales tax hike, a hotel-occupancy tax of 2 percent, a 5 percent tax on rental cars, a 10 percent admission tax and up to $3 in parking taxes on Rangers games. The deal will keep , the current 80,000-capacity home of the Dallas Cowboys, in 2004, and many of the taxes approved in the vote are actually extensions of existing taxes being used to pay off the remaining $155 million owed for that project.
