AEG Mulling Over San Diego Arena

Now that the Chargers’ proposal to fund a new stadium has been shot down by San Diego voters, the prospect of AEG moving to replace the city’s current arena, the , seems more and more likely.

Valley View has received $20 million in improvements over the last 25 years, Hahn said.

“We have 700,000 people per year come through here. And I don’t know any other arena this old that is still running.” Rohn Hahn, Ernie’s father who worked with the venue for years, said the family owns land in downtown San Diego, and would consider having AEG fund half of an 18,000-capacity, $250 million to 300 million stadium, with city bonds covering the rest.

Official talks have still not begun, AEG Facilities President Bob Newman said. City officials did not offer a comment on the matter.
