Dweezil Zappa Sets Dates For 2017
The full name of the tour is actually “50 Years Of Frank: Dweezil Zappa Plays Whatever The F@%k He Wants Cease & Desist Tour.” Anyone who’s been following Dweezil’s legal troubles could tell you that it refers to his fight with family members over the rights to use his father’s name or likeness in tour merchandise.
Zappa is now touring under his own name after previously performing as “Zappa Plays Zappa” and then “Dzeezil Zappa Plays Frank Zappa.”
This June marked the 50th anniversary of the release of Freak Out!, the debut album from Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention. Dweezil has been playing tunes from Freak Out! on tour, along with other tunes from his dad’s catalog, his own solo material and covers.
