Lee Fields Ready For More “Special Nights”

Lee Fields & The Expressions hits the road for a headline run throughout North America just weeks after its return from a European leg.

The band already has a busy schedule for the next few months, with shows booked in North America until a Jan. 7 gig at  in New York. The next date you can catch the group is Nov. 30 at  in Solana Beach, Calif.

After that leg, it’s Europe from Jan. 12 in Dublin, Ireland, until Feb. 3 in Paris, France.

Just a few weeks after the return are the new dates, starting at  in Philadelphia on Feb. 17. The routing concludes with a night at  in Atlanta March 11. That leg also includes a previously announced performance at Savannah Stopover in Savannah, Ga., March 10.

The new album is called Special Nights and came out Nov. 4. Brooklyn Vegan sang the album’s praises, writing: “Le Fields isn’t reviving anything, he’s just playing the music he’s played and loved his whole life. … The songs are convincing and passionate enough that they’re as worth hearing as the oldies.”

Lee Fields has been in the music business for nearly 50 years, as his first release was way back in 1969. He and the band members recently shared their grief over the loss of friend and musical collaborator Sharon Jones.
