Wilco Makes Plans For 2017

Wilco lines up gigs in a handful of North American cities in support of its new album, Schmilco. The routing includes multiple nights in Chicago, Toronto and New York City.

Released in September, Schmilco marks Wilco’s 10th studio album.

Rolling Stone calls the LP the band’s “most folk-rockingly introspective since 2007’s Sky Blue Sky.”

The 3.5 star-review goes on to say, “It’s a nice follow-up to last year’s No Wave-y glam rush, Star Wars, a free surprise release that found them refreshingly noisy, energized and maybe a little bit defensive. (In some ways, it was their anti-‘dad rock’ record.) With a nod to Harry Nilsson’s pop-eccentric touchstone Nilsson Schmilsson, Tweedy’s mood is less self-conscious and more easygoing on Schmilco.”

The February/March excursion starts in Wilco’s hometown, adding to three previous announced gigs at the Chicago Theatre Feb. 22-23 and Feb. 25. Here’s what’s new:

March 21 – New York, N.Y., Beacon Theatre
March 22 – New York, N.Y., Beacon Theatre

A limited amount of tickets were made available today through a presale. Tickets go on sale to the general public Dec. 2.
