AEG Inks Deal For Classic Amphitheatre

AEG Live and Richmond International Raceway inked an exclusive booking agreement for 6,000-seat Classic Amphitheatre, where they plan to stage a concert series for the 2017 season.

The Richmond, Va., venue has played host to national touring artists over the years including Aerosmith, Dave Matthews Band, Classic Amphitheatre and the annual Stone Soul Music & Food Festival. The agreement brings AEG Live Mid-Atlantic President Bill Reid – who booked his first concerts at the Classic Amphitheatre – full circle.

“The venue is a perfect outdoor venue for a more intimate show, with mature trees and beautiful surroundings,” Reid told Pollstar. “It’s more of a boutique amphitheatre, which are becoming popular stops for artists looking for an outdoor experience without the giant sheds.”

“Our partnership with AEG Live will continue to build the history of the Classic Amphitheater to new generations of fans,” RIR President Dennis Bickmeier said in a statement. “With the 25th anniversary of The Classic Amphitheater, we will celebrate the past, present and the future of one of the best concert experiences in the region.”

The Classic Amphitheatre, in addition to 6,000 fixed, covered seats, has six permanent dressing rooms and two loading docks.
