Bowery To Open Brooklyn Steel

The roughly 1,800-capacity facility is 20,000-square feet with raised platforms and a mezzanine allowing for great sightlines from anywhere within the building.

There are also three bars, 40 restrooms, three dressing rooms with full bathrooms and washers and drye and 250-capacity Rough Trade in the area.

The Decemberists, Pixies, PJ Harvey, Two Door Cinema Club, Animal Collective, Perfume Genius, Whitney, Tycho, The Black Angels, and Rough Trade are confirmed so far.

“Brooklyn Steel is filling a void in the Brooklyn music scene, offering the largest general admission venue in New York’s largest borough,” The Bowery Presents’ John Moore and Jim Glancy said in a statement. “With every venue we open, we aim to create a space where both fans and bands can fully enjoy the experience.”

The building will reflect the industrial look of the neighborhood with a main lobby bar created from scrap metal and a salvaged five-ton steel hook hanging over the main lobby that will feature an original installation from a local artist.
