Cold War Kids Gears Up For 2017

Cold War Kids has a big year ahead, with a new album on the way and a new batch of U.S. tour dates. The 17-date March excursion is made up of gigs in the Midwest and East Coast. Plus, the band has thrown in a stop in Canada.

The Silverlake, Calif., based indie rock band’s sixth studio album is due out in the spring. A release date hasn’t been set yet but the band has promised to unveil its new single, “Love Is Mystical,” in January.

Cold War Kids’ most recent LP, 2014’s Hold My Home, hit No. 8 on the alternative album chart. The album includes the gold-certified single “First.” You’ve probably heard the tune before. After all, “First” was featured on “American Idol,” “The Biggest Loser,” “Suits” and “Quantico,” as well as the trailer for the film “Aloha.” Between Soundcloud, Youtube and Spotify “First” has been streamed more than 129 million times.

The band kicks off its 2017 performance schedule with a Jan. 7 appearance in Tampa, Fla., at “AT&T Playoff Playlist Live!”
