Houston Venue Sued For Noise

Residents of the neighborhood surrounding a Houston music hall are taking it to court, claiming that a recent outdoor stage has disrupted their lives.

The venue reportedly got a permit for a permanent outdoor stage in October, prompting neighbors to take the venue to court.

“Since this opened in January of 2016, thunderous bass and amplified noise has ricocheted through the Near Northside, jumping nine lanes of I-45 into the Woodland Heights,” attorney Cris Feldman said on behalf of the residents at a press conference that saw local families gathered in front of the Music Hall. “This should have never been permitted in the first place, and these citizens are filing suit to stop it.”

The Music Hall’s temporary outdoor stage and indoor stage are adjacent to The Raven Tower, another host of musical performances.

For its part, the venue said it has tried to work with the neighbors.

“In response to recent neighborhood concerns stemming from the COH issuance of a permit for the permanent stage for the lawn venue, WOMH has made repeated efforts to reach out to these neighbors to schedule a meeting to hear their concerns, including an email to the Community Coordinating Team (CCT) on Nov. 2nd which was ignored,” management said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to work with our numerous neighborhood supporters, as well as those concerned, to continue to improve the White Oak Music experience for not only our patrons, but those who live around us.”

Representatives for White Oak Music Hall could not be reached at press time for further comment.
