Steve Hackett’s ‘Siren’ Call

Steve Hackett has a North American run beginning in February in Nashville to warm up fans for the arrival of his new album, due out in late March.

– Steve Hackett

The Night Siren is the title of Hackett’s new disc. Dropping March 24 through InsideOut Music (Sony), the LP includes singers from Israel and Palestine who have worked to bring Jewish and Arabic people together.

The instrumentation represents an international direction as well.  Musicians appearing on The Night Siren represent many countries, including India and Iraq as well as the U.S.

“This latest waxing represents a bird’s eye view of the world of a musical migrant ignoring borders and celebrating our common ancestry with a unity of spirit, featuring musicians, singers and instruments from all over the world,” Hackett said.  “From territorial frontiers to walled-up gateways, boundaries often hold back the tide.  But while the night siren wails, music breaches all defences.  To quote Plato, ‘When the music changes, the walls of the city shake.’”

The North American outing follows Hackett’s February participation with prog-rock’s “Cruise To The Edge” that also includes Yes and Kansas.  Here are the dates:
