McLaughlin’s first extensive trek in seven years is described as the beginning of his “farewell tour.” With a new album coming out before he takes to the road, McLaughlin plans to give fans his “first extended exploration” of material from Mahavishnu Orchestra albums such as Inner Mounting Flame, Birds Of Fire, Between Nothingness and Eternity, Visions, Of The Emerald Beyond and others.

McLaughlin is touring with his 4th Dimension band featuring Ranjit Barot (drums), Gary Husband (keyboards, drums), and Etienne M’Bappé (bass).

The second half of the co-headlining equation belongs to Jimmy Herring, whose resume includes The Aquarium Rescue Unit, Widespread Panic, The Allman Brothers, Jazz is Dead, Phil Lesh & Friends, and The Dead. Herring’s new “The Invisible Whip” band includes Jeff Sipe-Apt. Q258 (drums), Matt Slocum (B3 and Clavinet), Jason Crosby (Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer), and Kevin Scott (bass).
