Leavens Tapped For New Albany Venue

Joseph Leavens has been named operations manager of the SMG-managed, 5,000-capacity Albany Capital Center under construction in New York. He takes over his new duties Feb. 6.

Leavens previously worked in the same capacity at Hampton Roads Convention Center in Virginia, the company announced in a statement.

“Leavens brings a distinctive leadership skillset that matches with our vision for our new, modern facility,” said ACC GM Doug McClaine. “Having managed a property the size of Hampton Roads Convention Center, we are fortunate to have this expertise on our team and are looking forward to working with him.”

The facility, scheduled to open March 1, will be connected via enclosed walkways to the city’s Times Union Center, Empire State Plaza and Renaissance Albany Hotel.
