Aphex Twin, Bjork For Fuji Rock

Two of the three headliners were included in the list. Aphex Twin is the big news. Aphex Twin appeared at the first Fuji Rock and has never returned to Japan’s biggest summer festival until this year. Bjork is the other main Green Stage topper.

In addition, LCD Soundsystem, Lorde, Major Lazer, Queens of the Stone Age and The xx will headline some of the other stages.

The first wave is rounded out by the likes of Asgeir, Bonobo, Catfish And The Bottlemen, Eden, Elvin Bishop, Father John Misty, Goldroom, The Lemon Twigs, Lukas Graham, Maggie Rogers, The Marcus King Band, Rhye, Sampha, Sturgill Simpson, Temples and Western Caravan.

The announcement was met with a huge wave of approval on social media, with many saying it was the strongest initial Fuji lineup in many years and contains high-profile acts who have never played Japan before, including recent Grammy winner Simpson.

Usually, it’s the other big summer festival, Summer Sonic, that bags the new acts, but the SS roster announced so far is mostly repeaters: Calvin Harris, 5 Seconds of Summer, Charli XCX, Justice, Kesha,

Summer Sonic will take place simultaneously in Tokyo and Osaka Aug. 19-20.
