David Cassidy’s Fall From Grace, Stage

The former star of “The Partridge Family” may have bowed out from the music business in heartbreaking fashion after reportedly appearing intoxicated in what may have been his farewell performance.

David Cassidy was performing at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, Calif., and video from TMZ showed the singer slurring his words and apparently falling off the side of the stage mid-song.

The singer later reportedly told the attendees that the performance would be his last, as he was retiring after the gig.

Some fans have expressed frustration with Cassidy for the disappointing evening, but the majority of comments on Twitter were supportive and hopeful that the artist would seek treatment.

“For the most part this is my home, and this is where I became a television star. A rock ‘n’ roll star,” he said to the Southern California crowd onstage, reflecting on his career. “This is hard for me to say. Very, very difficult for me to say …”

TMZ has been reporting what is an apparent downward spiral for the artist, who it reports filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2015 and has struggled with alcoholism in the past.

Cassidy and his reps have not yet issued a public comment on the performance.
