ILMC To Address Direct Licensing, Terrorism, Festival Formats

The program is complete for the 29th International Live Music Conference in London March 8-10.

Natasha Bent (CODA), Steve Homer (AEG Live), Christof Huber (Open Air St. Gallen/Yourope), Jan Quiel (ICS Festival Service) and Nuno Sousa Pinto (Rock in Rio) are going to talk new festival formats, from new mega-formats to indoor events, from cruise ships to flotillas,“ according to the conference program.

Greg Lowe (United Talent Agency), Jonny Dawson (ATC Management), Sophie Lobl (C3 Presents), Stephan Thanscheidt (FKP Scorpio) and Tom Windish (Paradigm Talent Agency) are to discuss whether it’s festivals that build new bands or the other way around.

The session is part of ILMC’s newly introduced Festival Summit. Also premiering in 2017 is the Venue Summit, which will investigate the role of modern music venues in a healthy music ecosystem, the constant challenges for grassroots venues, as well as how the industry has reacted to terrorist attacks at venues.

Speakers include Lucy Noble (Royal Albert Hall) Jane Beese (The Roundhouse), André Lieberberg (Live Nation Germany), John Sharkey (SMG Europe) and London’s newly elected night czar, Amy Lamé.

A panel dubbed “Direct Licensing: Rates, rights and wrongs” will tackle the issue of direct licensing.

Panelists include Jon Webster (MMF), Iain Black (PRS), Ben Challis (Glastonbury Festival), Paul Crockford (PCM Management), Adam Elfin (PACE Rights Management) and Anja Kroeze (Buma Stemra).

Other panels and workshops address the business around YouTube stars, visa issues, and offer a round-up of the live entertainment year 2016, including Brexit, secondary ticketing and other trends.

The first day of ILMC is traditionally dedicated to the production sector, and Thursday, March 9, will see the bestowal of the Arthur Awards.
