Florida Georgia Line Invites Nelly To Tour

Rap and country are two genres that have been slow to crossover, but Florida Georgia Line is moving that needle forward by once again inviting hip hop heavyweight Nelly to join it on the road this summer. Chris Lane is also coming along as support.

FGL and Nelly already collaborated on a remix of “Cruise” in 2012, and both Nelly and Chris Lane came along for the duo’s tour of minor league ballparks in 2014.

The “Smooth Tour” starts in Austin, Texas, on June 2 and runs for several months, with the last scheduled dates being in Alpharetta, Ga.’s Verizon Amphitheatre Oct. 20-21.

Of the trek, Brian Kelly of Florida Georgia Line said: “It’s good to be back out on tour with some of our best friends, Nelly and Chris Lane. … If it’s any indication of our ballpark tour a couple years ago, this should be the party of the year! We are excited to see and connect with all of our fans, and make as many memories as we can.”

The country duo is currently on the “Dig Your Roots Tour,” with its next scheduled performance tomorrow at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill. The group also appears at several festivals without Nelly and Chris Lane over the summer, the first of which is Country USA in Oshkosh, Wis., on June 23.
