Elvis Costello & The Imposters Coast To Coast

Better watch out – those Imposters and their fearless leader, the one and only Elvis Costello, will be coming to a city near you this summer. The English singer/songwriter and his band has booked another run U.S. of dates for their new show, “Imperial Bedroom & Other Champers.”

You might have guessed that the tour will feature selections from his 1982 album, Imperial Bedroom. While tracks like “Beyond Belief,” “Almost Blue” and “Man Out Of Time” have been go-to songs on Costello’s setlists over the years, he’s planning to rework some tunes. His fall 2016 U.S. excursion included an electric version of the rarely performed “Pidgin English.”

Costello has also put together a new take on “Tears Before Bedtime” that you may find relevant to these times.

“We never intended to recite this book from cover to cover,” Costello said. “Listen to our new arrangement of ‘Tears Before Bedtime.’ It gets straight to the real meaning of that song, the way we hear and feel it today. Back in 1982, I might have been a step or two ahead of our crowd in the tragic, romantic stakes but I sense that they’ve all caught up with me now.”

The tour will include other tunes from Costello’s catalog. As he says, “You never know who or what you are going to encounter down the corridor to those ‘Other Chambers.’”

The June-July journey, which includes one night in Canada, begins in Berkeley, Calif.
