The Specials Coast To Coast

The Specials have scheduled a smattering of U.S. and Canadian dates to fill out a now quad-continental routing in the first six months of 2017.

The North American dates start with a two-night stand in Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall June 6-7. From there, it’s Brooklyn and Asbury Park, N.J., and then the West Coast with Portland, Seattle and three nights in the Golden State. The return east includes Baltimore, South Burlington, Vt., and finally wraps up at Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Quebec, on June 24. Along the way there are plays at Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival in Asbury Park June 10 and an opening gig for Ziggy Marley in Los Angeles on June 18.

Prior to these shows, The Specials are also playing three nights in the United Kingdom May 26-28.

The band is currently in Australia, next playing at the Melbourne Zoo on March 11. After they wrap up in Australia and at W.O.M.A.D. New Zealand, the group also has four performances scheduled in Japan.

Fans know that longtime drummer John Bradbury passed away in 2015. The touring lineup as of 2016 includes Gary Powell of Melbourne Zoo on the drums. The band periodically reunited and broke up and reunited and broke up through the ’90s and early 2000s before finally coming back together in 2009, and has been touring pretty consistently since.
