Scott Stapp Live And Unplugged

This August marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Creed’s debut studio album, My Own Prison. To celebrate the milestone, as well as how far he’s come in recent years, Scott Stapp is headed out on an acoustic tour.

Stapp’s struggles with drugs and mental health are well documented. In May 2015 the former Creed frontman revealed in an interview with People magazine that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder after checking into an intensive program in a dual diagnostic facility. The article noted that he had been abusing alcohol and prescription drugs. In January 2016 he returned to the road for his first tour since his public breakdown in fall 2014.

“After that shattering, a new person has emerged,” Stapp told People in a story published this week. “It’s still a work in progress. I haven’t arrived by any means, but there’s a clarity in my mind. I’m able to experience love and joy and happiness with my wife and children. All the things I love about life have slowly come back into my reality.”

He added, “I wanted to do something special to commemorate my 20th anniversary in the industry and of the My Own Prison album. But I’m different than I was back then, and I want to share that process. I’ve really learned and grown a lot, and I think an acoustic tour is a good way to show that. It will be very intimate. I’m really excited to share this part of me with people.”
