Brian Setzer Ready To Rock

We thought we should warn you that a riot is coming to town. More specifically – Brian Setzer’s Rockabilly Riot!. Dates are here for a U.S. tour that runs throughout the last three weeks of June.

The excursion is booked ahead of a previously announced European tour in July.

Setzer will likely be showing off tunes from his latest album, Rockabilly Riot! All Original. As the name implies, the 2014 release features all original material, following his 2005 cover collection, Rockabilly Riot Vol. 1: A Tribute To Sun Records.

“Of course, you would be forgiven for thinking some of these 12 tracks are covers because Setzer does shuffle riffs, references, lyrics, and riffs so he brings to mind a bunch of beloved classics,” Stephen Thomas Erlewine writes in a review for AllMusic.

“Sometimes the allusions are a little elliptical – he sets the hot rod ode ‘I Should’a Had a V-8’ to a march straight out of Johnny Horton – but that’s part of the fun of the record; Setzer enjoys rummaging through the past and it’s hard not to smile as he tips his hat to his idols.”
