Garth Brooks Adds SXSW & 2018 Gigs

After giving a keynote speech at South by Southwest today, Garth Brooks is sticking around Austin to put on a free SXSW gig Saturday night.

Brooks is taking part in a keynote conversation with Amazon Music Vice President Steve Boom and Hannah Karp of The Wall Street Journal. Boom, who is responsible for Amazon’s streaming music business globally, will be sure to chat with Brooks about the landmark deal the country star signed last year to make his music available to download and stream exclusively on Amazon Music. The keynote takes place March 17 at the Austin Convention Center from 2-3 p.m.

You can catch Brooks on Saturday at Austin’s Lady Bird Lake, where he’ll be headlining the SXSW Outdoor Stage, presented by Amazon Music. Complimentary general admission tickets are available today to residents of Austin and surrounding areas. A special allocation of space will be available for SXSW registrants and Music Festival wristband holders.

In other news, Brooks has already confirmed two concerts for 2018. He’s signed on for the opening and closing performances at RodeoHouston, Feb. 27 and March 18 at Houston’s NRG Park. The remaining 2018 RodeoHouston performers will be announced at a later date. Meanwhile, the 2017 edition of that festival continues through March 26 with sets from Fifth HarmonyWillie NelsonZZ TopBlink-182Zac Brown Band and more. An onsale for 2018 hasn’t been announced yet but the festival is hosting a giveaway for 2018 season tickets. There are still plenty of 2017 tickets available.
