ACC Liverpool Group owns the English city’s BT Convention Centre, , Exhibition Centre Liverpool as well as the ticketing agency TicketQuarter.

Ayre left LFC at the end of February after 10 years at the club. He’s now the managing director of German football club TSV 1860 Munich.

He also served as chief executive at Total Sports Asia and non-executive chairman for the Liverpool City Region Visitor Economy board in the past.

Ayre said he was “honored” to be appointed chair of the ACC Liverpool Group board, emphasizing that “it was important to me on leaving Liverpool Football Club to remain involved with the city when my day to day role will now move to Munich, Germany.”

He added that the group’s “significance to the area cannot be overestimated, particularly for the profile it brings on a national and international scale,” referring to the £1.2bn in economic impact that the group claims to have had on the city region since opening in 2008.

The group is preparing for its 10th anniversary next year. Upcoming highlights at Echo Arena include concerts by Bruno Mars on April 15 and  on May 8.
