Adam Ant Marches Around The Globe
Adam Ant is set to tour the U.K., the U.S., Australia and New Zealand in 2017 as he prepares to perform shows of hits and one of his early albums.
The U.K. dates are first on the docket, and they start May 5 in Newcastle, England’s Arena Rock Club. That leg is being called “ANTHEMS – The Singles tour,” and will feature Ant performing hits from throughout his career, as well as B-sides and rarities. He will be in the U.K. for just over three weeks, wrapping up in Nottingham, England, on March 28.
The U.S. will also get “ANTHEMS” shows, starting Sept. 6 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., several months after the U.K. run ends. The last Stateside date is in Los Angeles on Sept. 30.
The final stretch for Ant is in New Zealand and then Australia, starting Oct. 9 in Auckland, N.Z. During that portion Ant will be performing his 1980 album, Kings of the Wild Frontier, and more.
Ant was once voted “Sexiest Man Alive” by MTV viewers and was all over the charts in the ’80s. He released an album of original material in 2013, but otherwise has mostly stuck to compilations in recent years. Fans still know him as the consummate showman though, and he boasts of recently having played for 50,000 fans on his last tour.
2017 started sadly for the artist though, as his touring guitarist and music director Tom Edwards died of “suspected heart failure” in January.
