Maxwell Announces U.S. Headline Tour

Maxwell will continue showing off tunes from his latest album with an arena tour that begins in May. The U.S. outing features support from Ledisi. Common and Leela James appear on select dates.

The R&B/soul star released blackSUMMERS’night last July as the follow-up to 2009’s BLACKsummers’night. You can expect more music from the project as the new LP is the second in a musical trilogy.

review from Rolling Stone praises the album for evoking “a tradition disappearing before our eyes – the spiritualized eroticism of Prince, the jazzy soul extensions of Earth, Wind and Fire – without ever being of it.”

The track “Lake By The Ocean” received the Grammy for Best R&B song. Maxwell recently picked up a few other trophies – an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Male Artist and a Soul Train Award for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist.

Along with the news about the tour, today Maxwell debuted the music video for the song “Gods” exclusively available via TIDAL
