Festival Noize: Forecastle, Kaaboo, Cayuga Sound Festival

Kaaboo unveils its 2017 lineup, boasting Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and Muse … Forecastle Festival announces dailies … X Ambassadors is hosting and headlining the inaugural Cayuga Sound Festival.

X Ambassadors’ hometown festival in Ithaca, N.Y., is described as “an outdoor concert and city wide weekend festival for the people that made them who they are.”

Cayuga Sound will make its debut at Stewart Park on Sept. 22-23. Pre and post-show parties are in the works at local venues such as The Haunt and The Dock, with details to be announced in the coming months. Talks, seminars and other events are also being planned.

Curated by X Ambassadors, the lineup includes The Roots, K. Flay, The Knocks, Tei Shi, Margaret Glaspy, Jukebox The Ghost, Savoir Adore, Crush Club, Sammus, Izzy True, Imperials, Stone Cold Miracle, and Mail The Horse. More acts will be added.

“My brother Casey and I are proud to call ourselves native Ithacans,” X Ambassadors lead singer Sam Harris says. “The city is an important part of our identity, personally and professionally. We cut our teeth as musicians in Ithaca, so X Ambassadors owe the city a great deal. We wanted to curate a music festival in Ithaca that celebrates the city where we hail from. With an eclectic lineup of artists from all different genres of music, wonderful food and drink from local vendors and the opportunity to give back to the community we are so proud to be a part of.”

Kaaboo’s third edition takes place Sept. 15-17 at the Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, Calif.

Besides the fantastic musical delights, festival attractions include the Humor Me comedy club, an on-site contemporary arts fair, outdoor murals and installations, and gourmet food tastings. Forecastle Festival organizers have let fans know who is playing when, just in time for the single-day ticket onsale. 

The event returns to Waterfront Park in Louisville, La., July 14-16. The park is located on the banks of the Ohio River with a sightline of downtown.  

The lineup is topped by Odesza, LCD Soundsystem, Weezer, Cage The Elephant, Sturgill Simpson and PJ Harvey.
