The ride will move through Southern California on May 7. Following breakfast at Harley Davidson of Glendale, the ride rumbles through the streets of Los Angeles County and ends in Los Encinos Park in Encino. At the park there will be food trucks, music, a raffle and a live auction.
The events at the park will be hosted by metal personality Eddie Trunk and will also include performances from The Loveless, Sonia Harley, and No Small Children.
Last year’s Ride For Ronnie raised more than $50,000, and the charity has now raised upwards of $1 million. Dio succumbed to gastric cancer in 2010, but that hasn’t dimmed his influence on countless musicians around the world. A hologram of the renowned singer performed at this year’s Pollstar Live! Awards.
Pollstar had the chance to chat with Wendy Dio, whose work with the Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund also includes an annual Bowl 4 Ronnie event. She said in that interview that one thing the charity is interested in is a saliva test to detect cancer early on.
“Early detection saves lives. If you go and get tested it’s no big deal but you could save your life. If [you] don’t want to do it for [yourselves], do it for [your] loved ones, [your] children, [your] wife, [your] brother, [your] sister, [your] mother, you know,” she said.
Tickets to the ride are available now. Learn more about the event and the charity at DioCancerFund.com.
