According to media reports, the concert had attracted about 18,000 people and the crush near the front of the stage had become quite intense. While there were a few bruised feet and the like, the main complaint was “heat stroke-like symptoms,” according to a report by public broadcaster NHK.

Problems arose about 40 minutes into the band’s set and emergency services were called. About 20 people ranging from mid-teens to 50 years old were transported to area hospitals by ambulance.

Later, police and fire departments reported that none of the injuries or illnesses were serious.

Earlier in the day, during another performance, three people were injured when the crowd near the stage “fell down.”

Police said they would carry out an investigation into the causes of the injuries and illnesses, and the organizers of the event told reporters that they would “strengthen our venue management activities.”
