Herbie Hancock Announces U.S. Headline Tour
After making the rounds at festivals through Europe this summer, Herbie Hancock will return to the U.S. in August for a headline tour that includes gigs in New York, Kansas City, Salt Lake City and Los Angeles.
Fans are waiting on a follow-up album to 2010’s The Imagine Project. The legendary jazz pianist/bandleader/composer spoke to NPR in August about his upcoming project, which involves saxophonist Terrace Martin of Flying Lotus.
“Terrace and I have been working together almost every day on different things, for the record. … I’m shooting for the spring, but I’m not putting a time limit on it. It’s going to come out when it’s ready.”
Hancock has also been working with bassist Thundercat, keyboardist Robert Glasper, drummers Trevor Lawrence, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Jamire Williams, and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier.
