J. Geils Found Dead

J. Geils was found dead on Tuesday at his home in Groton, Mass. The guitarist and co-founder of the J. Geils Band, was 71 years old.

Police Chief Donald Palma confirmed the news of Geils’ death to the Boston Globe. A cause of death hadn’t been released at press time.

Geils co-founded the J. Geils Band in the late ‘60s and the group went on to release 14 albums, with hits including “Centerfold,” “Love Stinks,” “Freeze-Frame,” and “Must Of Got Lost.”

The guitarist hadn’t been with the band since 2012. That year he sued members Richard Salwitz, Danny Klein, Peter Wolf and Seth Justman, claiming they “planned and conspired” to exclude Geils from a tour, according to Reuters.
