Festivalgoer Sues LN Over Merch Attack
An Alabama man is suing Live Nation, the city of Atlanta and Truth Initiative after being hit over the head with a skateboard distributed by the anti-smoking nonprofit at 2015’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in Atlanta.
Joshua James Dugas said he was in the crowd watching Hellyeah’s set at Lakewood Amphitheatre when he was assaulted with a skateboard.
The 20-year-old says he was brought to the medical tent by friends, then to a local emergency room, eventually discovering he had injuries costing him more than $40,000.
Truth was distributing the skateboards and in his negligence suit Dugas says the defendants should have been responsible for making sure those giveaways weren’t used as weapons. He also says the crowd was unruly and dangerous.
The suit seeks a recovery of medical expenses and compensation for allowable damages.
Live Nation doesn’t comment on ongoing litigation.
