Explosions In The Sky Books Fall Tour

Explosions In The Sky is following up its ongoing Eastern/Midwestern outing with another run of U.S. dates in the fall. The September-October road trip includes gigs in Los Angeles; Seattle; Billings, Mont.; and Bellvue, Colo.

The Texas-based instrumental experimental band is continuing to support its 2016 album, The Wilderness. Explosions In The Sky recently released the official video for the track “The Ecstatics.” The stop-motion animation clip was directed by Hayley Morris.

A four-star review from the Guardian praises The Wilderness as “a beautifully understated epic,” while Pitchfork’s 8.0 write-up proclaims that the band’s seventh studio album is “their best since The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place.”

Explosions In The Sky has also earned high marks for its live show.

Here’s a snippet of the Austin Chronicle’s review for the group’s March 2016 performance at the Paramount Theatre: “This wasn’t just a gig. This was an arrival 16 years coming. This was Pink Floyd just before Live at Pompeii. This was the moment when EITS went from being Texas’ kings of post-rock to scene emperors.”
