Titans Fire Aramark
The NFL’s Tennessee Titans have fired concessionaire Aramark three years into a 10-year agreement because of complaints about food quality and long lines at Nissan Stadium.
The Titans issued a statement April 7 announcing they are looking at other food and beverage options to replace the vendor after a report by consultant Food Service Matters. The team says the goal is to find the solution to give fans the service they expect.
USA Today quoted Titans CEO/President Steve Underwood saying concession problems during a November game between the Titans and Green Bay Packers were the last straw.
Fans who paid extra to watch the game from the stadium’s club-seat level allegedly weren’t given the premium services they were promised, and inadequate staffing reportedly caused long lines and poor food quality
“Aramark has failed to meet its contractual obligations under the agreement,” Underwood said in a letter to Aramark. “The fact remains that we have not had acceptable, first-class service since Aramark came on board and we simply cannot have another performance like the Green Bay game.”
The NFL team brought in Aramark in 2014, and the Titans put the vendor on notice after July 2015 when approximately 100 of 300 Aramark employees scheduled to work a U.S. national team soccer game did not show up.
Aramark filed a lawsuit March 31 to challenge the termination. Chancellor Bill Young reportedly disagreed and denied Aramark’s request for a temporary injunction.
The Titans ended the legal dispute by paying Aramark a $7.2 million fee to terminate the vendor’s contract before its 2024 expiration date, USA Today said.
