The Asahi Shimbun newspaper reports that 38-year-old Kazutaka Yoshino of Tokyo fell about 10 meters while testing out some suspension rigging for the show.
The accident happened at the Mainhama Amphitheater, a venue located within the Tokyo Disney Resort complex in Urayasu, a city just outside of Tokyo.
Yoshino was rushed to a nearby hospital “in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest” and was confirmed dead about an hour later.
At the time of the accident, Yoshino was adjusting the speed of the descent for the suspension rigging. The local police have started an investigation to determine the specific cause of the accident.
Yoshino is a former member of the acrobatic circus troupe Cirque du Soleil. “Attack on Titan” has been canceled.
