Donald Fagen & The Nightflyers Take Flight

From the foot of Mount Belzoni, we’ve got news from independent station WJAZ that Steely Dan co-founder Donald Fagen is set to debut a new project this summer. Donald Fagen & The Nightflyers will head across the U.S. in August and September.

Although Fagen has done a few solo dates here and there and performed with The Dukes of September, he hasn’t played a full-fledged headline tour since 2006. That was the year he released Morph the Cat.

The new project is named after his debut solo album, 1982’s The Nightfly.

With Fagen leading the group on keyboard and vocals, the Nightflyers includes Connor Kennedy (guitar, vocals), Lee Falco (drums, vocals), Brandon Morrison (bass, vocals) and Will Bryant (keyboards, vocals). An announcement notes that Fagen and the quartet have been working together the past few years near his home in Woodstock, N.Y.

The setlist for the tour will feature selection from Fagen’s solo catalog, Steely Dan hits and “some swell surprises.”
