Seger Sold Out Before Onsale
It’s not a surprise that Detroit music legend Bob Seger would quickly sell out a hometown show at

Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Mich.
But what has come as a surprise for some fans was that the sellout for the Sept. 9 concert was announced four days before the scheduled May 20 public onsale.
The “vast majority” of those tickets were snapped up by members of Seger’s “Bullet Club,” according to the Detroit Free Press. Like most fan clubs, it gets an allotment of tickets for presale.
But it is unusual for a fan club to get an allotment so large that, when combined with season ticket, production, artist and other promotional holds, it would cause the entire inventory to be drained before the public got a crack at it.
Seger’s Facebook page indicated that his team was looking for a second date to book in the vicinity, but fan comments revealed a lot of frustration – and an expectation the same thing would happen no matter how many dates Seger booked in the Detroit environs.
Ticketmaster was the primary ticketer for the show. In the past, the company has generally limited fan club allotments to between 8 percent and 12 percent of inventory.
The Bullet Club website has a notice that it is “powered by Live Nation” but spokeswomen for Live Nation and Ticketmaster were unable to comment on the situation to Pollstar at press time.
DTE Energy Music Theater is managed by Palace Sports & Entertainment. An email seeking comment wasn’t immediately returned.
