New Tours: Jonny Lang, Lewis Black, Water Seed, John Popper

Among the numerous performances added to our database this week are newly announced tours for Jonny Lang, Lewis Black, Water Seed, and John Popper.

Jonny Lang is headed out on the road this summer in support of his upcoming album, Signs. The LP is due out Sept. 8 via Concord Records as the follow-up to 2013’s Fight For My Soul. The European release is scheduled Aug. 25 via Provogue Records/Mascot Label Group.

The new North American dates begin Aug. 11 with a show at Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom. The European leg kicks off Oct. 22 in Zwolle, Netherlands.

Lewis Black’s epic rant continues with a fall leg of U.S. dates for the “Rant, White & Blue” tour.

The fall excursion launches with two nights at Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa / Music Box Oct. 6-7. The last stop is Nov. 19 at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville.

The comedian also has a 10-date excursion through Canada lined up with Kathleen Madigan that they’re calling “The 49th Parallel Tour.” The fun starts Sept. 6 in Calgary, Alberta.

New Orleans-based funk/soul act Water Seed has lined up a U.S. tour to go along with today’s release of its fifth album, We Are Stars.

Water Seed represents NOLA’s esteemed music scene with the collection of new tunes, which is described as “a musical journey through the sound and wide tapestry that has become the theme song for generations.”



The band’s “We Are Stars” headline tour begins June 2 in Deland, Fla., at Café DaVinci. Stops on the outing include Nashville, San Diego, Reno, New York, St. Louis and Denver.

Blues Traveler frontman John Popper has booked a run of West Coast solo dates ahead of the band’s “30 Year Anniversary Tour.”

The stripped-down solo shows will feature Popper on vocals and harmonica and Blues Traveler bandmate Ben Wilson on piano and backup vocals. The setlist will include Popper solo material as well as selections from Blues Traveler’s catalog.

The excursion kicks off June 3 at the Admiral Theatre in Bremerton, Wash., followed by five gigs in California. The last show scheduled is June 14 at BLK Live in Scottsdale, Ariz.
