Pollstar Exclusive: Matthew Sweet Announces West Coast Leg

Matthew Sweet has added a run of West Coast gigs to his U.S. summer tour in support of his first new collection of original material in six years.

Tomorrow Forever is due out June 16 via Sweet’s own Honeycomb Hideout label distributed through Sony/RED. The heartfelt project was inspired by the singer/songwriter’s move back to his native Omaha and the loss of his mother. Following a bout of writer’s block, Sweet ended up recording 38 songs at his newly built home studio, Black Squirrel Submarine. Tomorrow Forever features 17 tracks, with another dozen available for his Kickstarter supporters. Check out the audio for the standout tune “Trick” below.

“My new record, Tomorrow Forever, came out great,” Matthew Sweet tells Pollstar. “We’re very excited to hit the road and play some of the new songs. This will be a stellar tour, and I’ll be hitting lots of markets we haven’t been to in a while. Can’t wait to see all my old fans come out to hear us!”

Tickets for the new dates go on sale today for select venues.
